One new death, 13 new cases over weekend

Another Dubois County resident’s death has been attributed to Covid-19 bringing the total number up to 135.

The death was recorded over the weekend along with 13 new cases. The new case brings the total up to 8,393 since the pandemic began.

The county advisory status remains in the “orange” Covid-19 advisory level.

According to the state dashboard, the county has an 18.7 percent positivity rate over the past seven days for unique tests (individuals being tested for the first time). The state reported the seven-day positivity rate among all tests stands at 8.5 percent as of Monday

Of the 228 ICU beds in our District, 6.8 percent are in use for Covid-19 patients and 55.7 percent of ICU beds are in use by non-Covid-19 patients.

Testing options are available at the following locations.

Symptomatic patients are encouraged to contact their Primary Care Provider or go to Memorial Hospital’s Urgent Care Center, 507 E. 19th Street, Huntingburg. Patients are evaluated by a provider who determines testing and treatment. Memorial Hospital’s Urgent Care Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Indiana State Department of Health Testing Site is located at 400 Clay Street, in Jasper (The old Ruxer Golf Course). The site has a new phone number, 812-675-5084. The testing clinic is open Tuesday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The site is closed for lunch daily from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday and Monday the site is closed.

The site has Rapid COVID-19 tests (BinaxNOW COVID–19 Ag Cards) available by appointment at the Dubois County Regional COVID Testing Site during business hours. Results should be available about 30 minutes after test.

To register for an appointment to obtain a PCR COVID -19 test please visit https://scheduling.coronavirus.in.gov/. You will have to click “I don’t have an invitation code”.  If you do not have internet, you can call the phone number above, if no one answers please leave a message and they will call you back. Results should be available within 2-3 business days.

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
