One injured in Ferdinand collision

A driver was taken to Memorial Hospital after the car he was in was struck by a passenger van in Ferdinand Tuesday evening.

According to Ferdinand police, an officer came upon the crash at the intersection of N. Main Street and North Industrial Park Road at about 6 p.m.

Police determined that a 42-year-old Ferdinand resident was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna north on North Main Street and did not see a 2007 Chevrolet Impala stopped for traffic waiting to turn west onto North Industrial Park Road. The driver did not have time to avoid the collision by the time she noticed the vehicle was stopped, according to police, and the van collided with the sedan.

The woman and her two sons in the van were not injured police said but all the airbags deployed.

The driver of the Impala, a 25-year-old Petersburg resident, complained of back pain and was taken to Memorial Hospital by Dubois County Emergency Medical Services.

According to police, both vehicles appeared to be a total loss.

The Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the crash.
