One dead in Dale house fire
A fire in Dale took the life of one man early Saturday morning.
Dylan L. Somers, 21, died of asphyxia due to smoke inhalation, according to Spencer County Coroner Robert Fuller.
According to Fuller, the investigation is ongoing at this time and an investigator with the State Fire Marshal’s office is on scene. Fuller explained that officials know there was a party at the 25 South Sunset Drive residence last night but they are still determining the cause of the fire.
The fire was called in at 2:33 a.m. CST and when Carter Township Volunteer Firefighters arrived at the scene, the home was engulfed in flames. They called for assistance from Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department.
One man, Andy Cantner, was treated for minor injuries from the fire. According to Fuller, it appeared he had reentered the home to find Somers but was not able to get him out of the house.
Carter Fire District sent two trucks and eight firefighters to the fire and Jackson Township assisted with one truck and three firefighters.
The Spencer County Sheriff’s Department and Spencer County Emergency Medical Services also assisted.
