Olive Jane Spraggins, 94, Huntingburg, passed away peacefully at 10:35 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, at The Waters of Huntingburg while surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Birdseye, Indiana on June 3, 1922, to Claude and Ada (Atkins) Ford. She was united in marriage to Russell Glenn Spraggins (a Purple Heart medal recipient of World War II) on January 25, 1943, in English, Indiana.

Mrs. Spraggins was a homemaker and employed by General Electric before the company moved to Tell City. She worked as a nursing home aide at Good Samaritan of Jasper; was a waitress at Yaggies Restaurant in Jasper; and was a cook at several area restaurants. She was a member of the Huntingburg V.F.W. Post #2366 Ladies Auxiliary and the Birdseye Christian Church.

Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Glenn Spraggins, who passed away on May 22, 2007; and two sisters, Agnes Polen and Ruby who died in infancy.

She is one son, Donald Glenn Spraggins of Birdseye; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Lou (James) Dilger of Ferdinand, Janice Jean (Joe) Jones of Jasper and Anita Darlene Ackerman of Jasper; one brother and sister-in-law, Henry Lee (Debbie) Ford of Huntingburg; two sisters, Evelyn Young of Birdseye and Rita Eckert of Huntingburg; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

services for Olive Spraggins will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye, Indiana.  Reverend Albert Madden will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. EST on Monday.  A  V.F.W. Post #2366 Ladies Auxiliary memorial vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
