Old Jasper Day returns to Riverwalk Plaza on May 17

Jasper, Indiana — The annual Old Jasper Day celebration is set for this Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jasper Riverwalk Plaza, promising a full afternoon of family-friendly activities centered on Jasper’s history and the strawberry season.

The Jasper Lions Club will have fresh strawberries, sandwiches, and other treats.

Free carriage rides will also be available from noon to 3 p.m., with boarding near the Veterans Garden entrance.

Music lovers can head to the gazebo, where local musician Jed Guillaume will perform from noon until 3 p.m., sponsored by Smithville Fiber.

Families with young children can catch Story Time readings of “I Love Strawberries” by S. Anderson at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 p.m., presented through the Dubois County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom program.

Adventure seekers can take part in the Jasper Schnitzeljagd — a scavenger hunt throughout the city — with registration opening at 11:30 a.m. and the hunt running until 3 p.m., sponsored by Psi Iota Xi.

History enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the Jasper City Mill, the Historic Barn, and the Alexander Schoolhouse, all located on or near East 4th Street. Other activities include face painting by Shelly Goodrich and Donna Linette for a small fee, and a “Plant a Plant” station where visitors can take home their own strawberry plant while supplies last.
