Oink Inc. Smokehouse to open new location in Huntingburg

Oink Inc. Smokehouse will open a second location in Huntingburg in mid-December, according to owner Tim Flick.
Flick’s move is predicated on the increasing demand for the catering side of his business. The Southgate Shopping Center location is inadequate for continued growth, and he needs to move that spillover from the commercial kitchen at his home in St. Anthony. The Huntingburg location helps meet those demands and allows him to serve a new community with his restaurant offerings.
“I bought it to really just move catering over there,” Flick explained. “When I started looking at it, though, it’s got 75 seats and it’s meant to be a restaurant.”
He admits Huntingburg already has many great restaurants, but none like what he offers at Oink, Inc.
“I went to Butcher & Barrel a couple weeks ago and it was fantastic,” Flick said. “They’re doing a great job. What John and those guys have done with the inside of that place is amazing.”
He added that he’s been going to Mama T’s for years. “What he’s done is awesome,” Flick said about owner Brandon Acles.
He says Oink Inc. will fill a different niche than these other restaurants.
“There are a lot of these restaurants in Huntingburg and I think they are all different, each unique in their own way,” Flick said.
The new Oink Inc. restaurant will have a lighter menu than the Jasper location with counter service. “We’ll have Totchos, sandwiches and smash burgers and all that,” Flick explained. “We want it to be a little more relaxed and casual.”
Right now, the former Brick Oven Pizza location across from Memorial Gym is undergoing a massive renovation. The only walls still standing are the exterior ones—the interior has been completed and stripped down to a shell. A concrete pad has been poured to add about 1,200 square feet to the 2,800-square-foot building to accommodate the walk-in cooler and kitchen for the new business. When it opens, visitors should expect to experience a completely renovated and renewed building.
Sometime in early December, passersby will begin smelling the delicious food being prepared for Flick’s catering. By mid-December, the restaurant will be open for lunch hours, and there is a plan to have evening service available sometime in the new year. Eventually, Flick expects the hours to reflect those he has in the Jasper location.

Oink Inc. has been a lot of fun for the executive chef, who’s been working in the restaurant industry since he was a teenager growing up in Jasper. He credits the team he’s built around a great product as the secret to the company’s current success.
“I’ve got amazing people, an amazing team, that makes this possible,” he said. “We’ve simplified the menu with our process, and we just have a very consistent, quality product.”
