Norman H. Kilian, 86

Norman H. Kilian, age 86, of Jasper, passed away at 1:08 p.m. on Sunday (July 21, 2013) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Norman was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on November 30, 1926 to Jacob W. and Elsie (Holeman) Kilian. He married Rose Marie Bockelman on June 30, 1951 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

He was a Navy Veteran and worked at the Jasper Post Office for over 29 years, from which he retired.

He was a member of the Huntingburg Class of 1945, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, the V.F.W. Post #673, the American Legion Post #147, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society.

He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid IU Basketball and sports fan.

Steve Kilian, and his wife Judy, Oakland City, IN

Mike Kilian, and his wife Dawn, Jasper, IN

Thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is one daughter, Brenda Kilian, one son, Gary Kilian, one sister, Catherine Fehribach, and four brothers, Bill, Leslie, Richard, and Russell Kilian.

Funeral services for Norman H. Kilian will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (July 25, 2013) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (July 24, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brenda Kilian Endowment Fund through the Dubois County Foundation, or to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
