Norman F. Caldemeyer, 88, of Stendal, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

He was born April 22, 1927, in Stendal, Indiana, to Henry and Loumira “Lou” (Doetker) Caldemeyer. He was united in marriage to Betty M. Blount on August 30, 1952, in Stendal.

Norman was a retired residential bricklayer and stonemason. He often contributed his time and masonry skills to the benefit of community projects. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal, the Bricklayers Union, and the Lockhart Township Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Seoria Vaughn, and one brother, William Caldemeyer.

He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Caldemeyer of Stendal; eight children, Brenda Houchin of Stendal, Larry Caldemeyer of Lynnville, Karen Dixon of Winslow, Sharon Roettger of Stendal, Gary Caldemeyer of Stendal, Rita Williams of Stendal, Kutina Kline of Holland and William Caldemeyer of Stendal; one brother, David Caldemeyer of Stendal; 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Norman Caldemeyer will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Paul Cemetery located on the west side of Stendal. The Reverend Tom Deen will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, the day of the funeral. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
