Norman F. Brosmer, 93, Birdseye

Norman F. Brosmer, 93, of Birdseye, formerly of Dubois, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Norman was born on April 22, 1922, in Dubois to Lawrence and Mary (Theising) Brosmer. He had two marriages. His first marriage was to Irene Taylor on October 22, 1946 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Loogootee. She preceded him in death on November 26, 1980. He then married Dolores Hartwick on January 25, 2002 in St. Celestine Catholic Church.

Norman was an U.S. Army paratrooper who served in World War II. He was a member of the Jasper VFW Post #673 and the Jasper American Legion Post #147. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked for the State of Indiana at Indiana Girls School and then at Patoka Lake Reservoir.

He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois. He enjoyed fishing, camping, square dancing, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Brosmer of Birdseye; two daughters, Diane Purcell of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Patty Englert and husband Terry of Dubois; one son, Ron Brosmer and wife Carol of Greenfield; one stepson, Jim Hartwick and wife Debbie of Celestine; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death beside his first wife is daughter, Jeannie Galloway; son, Bill Brosmer; grandchild, Andy Galloway; sister, Catherine Schnell; and brother, Robert Brosmer.

Funeral services for Norman F. Brosmer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, in St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military grave side rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
