Norman E. Begle, 83, Jasper

Norman E. Begle, 83, of Jasper, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper.  

He was born on January 20, 1943, to Louis and Elenora (Knust) Begle.  

Norm grew up in Mariah Hill; served in the United States Army and then became a boilermaker with Union Local 374.  

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Bretzville and Huntingburg V.F.W. Post #2366.

He enjoyed dancing; was skilled at making miniature woodworking items; was a bicycle enthusiast and a founder of Rails to Trails Conservatory in Ohio, creating bicycle paths out of old railways.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Werner and Othmar Begle; a sister, Almeda Boeglin.

Norman is survived by his son, Courtney Begle; daughter, Rachel (Steve) Pund, both of Huntingburg; his companion, Ginny Wininger of Jasper; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaitlyn and Josh Pund; great-grandchildren, Moises and Elias. 

Visitation for Norman Begle will be held at Nass and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Howard Geck will officiate the service.  

Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.
