Norma Lee Bodkins, 86, Mt. Vernon

Norma Lee Bodkins, 86, Mt. Vernon, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Park Terrace Village.
She was born January 20, 1930, in Knox County to the late Virgil J. and Henrietta M. (Sprinkle) Morrison.
Throughout the years she worked as a surgical tech and doctor’s assistant, and graduated later in life from USI with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health Services with a Minor in Social Work. Norma founded the River City Eagles in Evansville and the Oakland City Eagles, where she held many offices throughout the years. She had also been active in the State Eagles Organization with her husband. She loved dancing the polka and the waltz.
Previously, Norma lived in Gibson County, Vanderburgh County, Pike County and Bradenton County, Fla.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Oral Calvin Bodkins; brother, Jackie Joe Morrison; and her parents.
She is survived by her son, Steven Roy (Patti) Bodkins of Texas; daughters, Angela (Howard “Butch”) Draper of Tiptonville, Tenn. and Teresa (Alan) Blackburn of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Shane O’Keefe of Evansville, Mark Blackburn of Mt. Vernon, Erick Bodkins of Evansville, Ivy Bodkins, Cheri Norrington and Andy Hurst, all of Winslow; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
