Norbert L. Mehringer, 81, Jasper

Norbert L. Mehringer, 81, Jasper, passed away at 11:26 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.
Norb was born in Ireland, Indiana on June 26, 1934 to Karl and Hilda (Hohler) Mehringer. He married Ruth Burger on June 16, 1959 in Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Norb was a U. S. Army veteran. He retired from Kimball International after 15-plus years of service and worked for Holiday Liquors for many years. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and former Grand Knight with the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching I.U. basketball, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Syracuse Orange, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Mehringer of Jasper; two daughters, Diane “Dee Dee” Kilian of Jasper and Susie Mehringer of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sons, Mark Mehringer and girlfriend Chrissy Byrd of Jasper and Shaun Mehringer and wife Joyce (Verkamp) of Celestine; three grandchildren, Shelby Mehringer and Eli and Wyatt Mehringer; two sisters, Frances Stamm and husband John of Jasper and Helen Giesler and husband Ed of Ireland; one brother, Eugene Mehringer and wife Dianne of Ireland.
Preceding him in death was a son-in-law, Gary Kilian and one sister, Rosemarye Elmore
Funeral services for Norbert L. Mehringer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The Jasper VFW will perform military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
