Norbert J. Schroeder, 92, Jasper

Norbert J. Schroeder, 92, Jasper, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at his home in Jasper.
He was born at Celestine, Indiana on November 18, 1924, to Herman J. and Katherine (Schroering) Schroeder. He married Verena Hopf on June 8, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2013.
Norbert retired from Kimball International in Jasper (Jasper Corporation Division).
He dedicated himself to a life of service to his family, Jasper Community and especially Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Norbert was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Jasper Knight of Columbus.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Schroeder of Wauwatosa, Wisc.; two sons, Rev. Eugene Schroeder of Evansville and Thomas E. Schroeder (Jo Ann) of Newburgh; son-in-law, Jerry Vestweber of Mt. Prospect, Ill.; nine grandchildren, James Vestweber, Cassandra Vestweber, Mellissa Dragoo, Laura Armes, Thomas J. Schroeder, Valerie Clarke, Benjamin Schroeder, Jeremy Jackson, Lori Coole; 15 great-grandchildren, Madison, Zachary, Brianna, Larissa, Anthony, Trevor, Kaylin, Maverick, Dillon, Aleigha, Natalie, Callie, Elijah, Annalyse, Harper; sister, Marie Beckman of Celestine; three sisters-In-law, Bernie Schnell, Theresa Hopf and Kathy (Luckie) Hopf; nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were one daughter, Margaret Vestweber; three sisters, Rosina Mehringer, Veronica Mehringer and Bernadette Schroering; five brothers, Jerome, Joseph, Alois, Edward, Rev. Othmar and Rev. Sylvester Schroeder.
Funeral services for Norbert Schroeder will be held at 10:00 a.m. EST Saturday, January 7, 2017, in Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 2:00 tp 8:00 p.m. EST Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Norbert and Verena Schroeder Endowment for Precious Blood Parish.
