Norbert C. Alles, 90, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Norbert was born in Jasper, Indiana on July 6, 1924 to Jacob and Anna (Rasche) Alles. He married Margaret Krodel on June 9, 1951 in Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church in French Lick, Indiana. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2011.

He served two and a half years in the Army during World War II with four of his brothers in the Army overseas. He received the following medals: Good Conduct, American Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern, World War II Victory, and the Honorable Service Button.

He was a graduate of Jasper High School in 1942. He started working at Wilson Drug Company in the summer of 1939 and during high school. He then went to Pharmacy School in 1942 and completed three semesters. He served in the Army and then went to Purdue University, where he graduated from the School of Pharmacy in 1949. He returned to Wilson Drug Company and later became a part owner. When the Central Building was sold and the drug store closed, he worked at Flick’s Drugs for five years and then retired.

He also served as a director and chairman of the board of Dubois County Bank and Old National Bank for many years.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper Country Club, V.F.W. Post #673, American Legion Post #147, Jasper K of C, Dubois County Sportsman Club, and the Dubois County Purdue Club.

He won nine consecutive club championships at the Jasper Country Club and 14 championships in all.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, tennis, and all Purdue sports.

He is survived by one daughter, Toni Alles of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Ken Alles and his wife Pat of Indianapolis and Tim Alles and his wife Barbra of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Alles Renner of Carmel, Ind. and Sam and Mitchell Alles of Tampa, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Logan Renner; one brother, Jerome “Chick” Alles.

Preceding him in death besides his wife are five brothers Oliver, Hilary, James, Edward, and Charles Alles.

Funeral Services for Norbert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rights.

Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Dubois County Community Foundation.
