No Trash in the River: Halloween cleanup and social media challenge

Daviess, Dubois, Martin, and Pike County Soil & Water Conservation Districts are teaming up for a fun Halloween-themed effort to help keep litter out of our rivers and waterways.

Community members are invited to join us for a Halloween Costume Trash Pick-Up Day on October 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. ET, at the Hudsonville Campground located at 5064 County Road 800 S, Montgomery, IN 47558.

Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume, although costumes are not required. Bring friends and family, grab a pair of gloves, and help clean up litter in the community. The group will gather for a photo and to celebrate the trash collected.

No Trash in the River Social Media Challenge

Can’t attend the in-person event? You can still participate! Collect trash near your home, along a roadway, or near a creek or waterway. Put on your favorite Halloween costume, take a photo of your cleanup haul, and post it on social media. Be sure to tag your participating Soil & Water Conservation District.

Photos will be judged for the best combination of costume and cleanup effort, with a Halloween Treat Bundle awarded to the winner. Photos must be submitted by November 3. Together, we can turn a little Halloween fun into a big impact for our community and waterways!
