Newton Street lane restriction coming due to new sidewalk installation

A section of Newton Street will be reduced to two lanes as crews install a sidewalk from the Indiana State Police Post at Schuetter Road north to 30th Street.

In an effort to improve safety and pedestrian access, the City of Jasper hired a contractor to construct the sidewalk and that work is set to begin on Monday, Sept. 7.

The northbound lane will be closed and northbound traffic will be redirected to the center lane of Newton Street in that section. The lane closure will remain in place until the project is complete.
