New mattress franchise opens in Jasper
Jasper — The owners of Sternberg’s Furniture have opened a Serta mattress franchise in Jasper at 423 U.S. 231 South, next to Papa John’s.
Pete and Kris Massat, and their son Nick Dills will host a grand opening at America’s Mattress this Friday at 10 a.m. after a ribbon cutting at 9:30.
The group began talking about opening the franchise location in April after joining a buying group. This is the first of several planned locations in Southern Indiana. “Serta is the number one mattress manufacturer in the world,” Pete said. “So, we thought, who better to partner with to expand throughout Southern Indiana.”
The Jasper location has over 20 models in stock and on display, including the Perfect Sleeper and iComfort series.
According to Massat, the specialized mattress store is a concept that has gained popularity as customers are seeking a more personalized experience. “The expertise is a little more than what you would get from a furniture store or a department store,” he explained.
“The nice thing about a sleep shop is that they (the employees) know everything about a bed inside and out,” Nick Dills explained. “They will be able to get you the bed you like.”
That is important, according to Massat. “A third of your day is in a bed,” he said, “and you want to be in a bed that is going to be comfortable and let you sleep restfully.”
With the Serta brand, customers can take advantage of the 120-Day In-Home Trial; a guarantee that allows customers to try out the mattress for 120 days and still exchange or return it if they are not completely satisfied.
Massat and Dills agreed that Serta is a brand they are proud to carry since the mattresses are an American-made product manufactured in Cincinnati.
The mattresses come in a range of prices starting at $99. A $5,000 model on display is an adjustable featuring several amenities like under-bed lighting, lumbar support and even headboard speakers.
It is important to the family to expand in their hometown of Jasper. “We love Jasper and we love providing a service to the community,” Dills said.
The store will employ two people at the Jasper location. America’s Mattress will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The stores website is at www.AmericasMattess.com/Jasper.
