The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office announced Emily Haas’s recent addition as a new deputy/social worker.
The sheriff’s office posted on social media that Emily brings a unique blend of law enforcement and social work expertise, making her an invaluable asset to the team and the community.

Emily’s path to the sheriff’s office began during her tenure as a probation officer, where she frequently worked alongside deputies and detectives. These interactions sparked her interest in law enforcement and inspired her to join the sheriff’s office. “Working with the sheriffs office ignited my passion for law enforcement, and I knew I wanted to be a part of the team,” Emily shared.
Emily holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work. Her career in the criminal justice system began immediately after graduation, working as a probation officer. With extensive experience supporting individuals within the criminal justice system, Emily is excited to bring her skills to her new role with the sheriff’s office. “I am eager to use my background in social work to make a difference in our community,” she said.
In her new position, Emily is most excited about serving as a resource for the community. “I’m looking forward to showing how valuable the combination of social work and law enforcement can be,” she explained. Emily’s focus will be on expanding resources for victims of crimes, supporting individuals with mental health needs, and improving crisis response within the community.
Emily’s extensive training in mental health and mental health services will make her a unique contribution to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office. She aims to graduate from the police academy, complete her field training, and then focus on initiatives such as enhancing victim resources and aiding in mental health crisis response.
When she’s not working, Emily enjoys being outdoors with her friends, family, and her adorable pup, Blu. Whether hiking or camping, Emily’s love for nature and adventure is a big part of who she is.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is excited to welcome Emily Haas to our team. She will undoubtedly make a significant impact both within the department and throughout the community.
