New assistant principal at Jasper High School announced

The Greater Jasper Consolidated School Board announced Glenn Buechlein as the new Jasper High School Assistant Principal. Buechlein is a 1985 graduate of Jasper High School and will be starting as the new assistant principal when the current assistant principal Brian Wilson becomes principal.
The moves were predicated on JHS Principal Bob Hacker replacing Mike Hile as assistant superintendent of the school corporation. Hile announced his retirement earlier this year after being part of the Greater Jasper School Corporation for 42 years.
Buechlein graduated from Indiana State with his bachelor’s degree and received an Administrative Degree from Oakland City University. He began his career as a teacher at Eastern Hancock until 1994 when he transferred to Vincennes Lincoln where he has been the assistant principal for three years.
He has coached several sports including football, track and basketball and has been the weight room coordinator at Vincennes Lincoln since he started there. He is also licensed to teach six subjects; Government, Geography, World and U.S. History, Economics and Psychology.
Being hired as the assistant principal and working for the Jasper School Corporation is a dream come true for Buechlein. “It’s a huge sense of pride to return to my hometown and impact students,” he said. “It’s just great to be a part of excellence, Jasper is a four star school; one of only 18 high schools in the state.”
Buechlein stated he was impressed with the school’s improvement plan that states their goal is to be the number one public high school in the state. “They (JHS) aspire to greatness and I want to be part of it.”
Buechlein is married with one child. His wife, Kelly, is a photographer and his daughter, Taylor, is a first grader at Ireland Elementary. He and his family moved back to Dubois County in 2008 and Buechlein stated taking the new position will also enable him to spend more time with his family since he won’t be driving those two hours to and from Vincennes anymore.
