NBA coach joining local basketball school for special clinic

DC Hoop School will host a basketball clinic in July featuring NBA Coach Brett Gunning and Houston Rockets Chaplain Mike Rosas.

DC Hoop School is an initiative by JD Ramirez, a local pastor and business owner, to create a permanent basketball training facility in Haysville in 2025. JD said the goal is “to mobilize the gospel through basketball.”

JD has extensive experience in basketball. He began playing in sixth grade and, in seventh grade, made the cut for Miami Christian’s varsity team. Miami Christian was ranked second in the nation in 2015-2016.

Surrounded by high-caliber players, JD drew inspiration from legends like JJ Barea, the championship point guard from the Dallas Mavericks, who paved the way at Miami Christian. Having played in professional circuits and trained elite players, JD now aspires to bring his passion and expertise to Southern Indiana.

The DC Hoop School Elite Basketball Clinic is for middle school through high school students–there will be limited sports for third through fifth grade.

More information and registration is at this link.

The one-day clinic will be held three days in July at area gymnasiums from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Monday, July 22, it will be held in Jasper High School’s Auxilary Gym; on Tuesday, July 23, at Springs Valley High School; and on Wednesday, July 24, at Heritage Hills High School.
