Nancy Ann Elkins, 86, Ellettsville

Nancy Ann Elkins, 86, passed away with her family by her side at Bell Trace Health and Living on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

She was born in Ashmore, Ill., on November 13, 1936, to William Riley Comstock and Margaret Juanita Comstock.  

She was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Elkins in 1955 in Ellettsville, Ind., where they made their home. They had been married close to 43 years prior to Don’s death in 1998.  

Nancy worked for several years with Monroe County in several offices, including the Monroe County Assessors office and the Richland Township Assessors office. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and board games and caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Maurice Weeden; two sisters, Charlotte Stoner of Ashmore, Ill. and Martha Keigley of Port Charlotte, Fla.

Nancy is survived by her two sons, David Elkins of Ellettsville and Neil (Susan) Elkins of Huntingburg; two granddaughters, Emily Elkins of Lafayette and Abby (Samson) Rayi of Mishawaka; one sister, Sue Rodgers of Charleston, Ill.; two brothers, Tony (Jody) Comstock and Mike Comstock, both of Ashmore.

Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Private burial will take place at Presbyterian Cemetery.
