Jasper — A Tennyson woman went to jail Monday afternoon after a state trooper arrested her for operating a car under the influence of methamphetamine.

According to police, her 9-year-old son was in the car at the time.

At 1:02 p.m., Trooper Brock Werne pulled over a maroon 1995 Buick LeSabre at Dorbett Street and 9th Street in Jasper for driving across the center line and not having a bumper.

During the traffic stop, Trooper Werne determined the driver, Alicia K. McDaniel, 39, of Main St., Tennyson, was showing signs of impairment. Through the course of the investigation, Werne learned that McDaniel had been smoking methamphetamine earlier in the day.

Child Protective Services was contacted to take custody of the boy at the scene. McDaniel tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana. She was charged with Level 6 felony neglect of a dependent. She was also charged with operating while intoxicated endangerment and operating while intoxicated controlled substance; both Class A misdemeanors.

Police booked her into the Dubois County Security Center.
