Morris W. Schnarr, 83

Morris W. Schnarr, age 83, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Morris was born on September 13, 1930 in Effingham, Illinois to Virgil and Mamie (Patrick) Schnarr. He married Doris “Dot” Vonderheide on April 19, 1952 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.
Morris retired as a Chief Warrant Officer W-3 from the United States Army, where he had served for 20 years, and then worked at Naval Weapons Support Center in Crane, Indiana where he retired after 20 years.
Morris served in the Korean Conflict twice, and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, with two Oak Leaf Cluster Awards, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, with two Oak Leaf Cluster Awards, and the Korean Service Medal, with two Bronze Service Stars, two Battles.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #673 and a past member of the Jasper Moose.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, I.U. basketball and several other sports, and loved to read the newspapers, and watch the television show M.A.S.H.
Morris is survived by his wife, Doris “Dot” Schnarr, of Jasper; two daughters, Debbie Schitter, and her husband, Mike, of Jasper and Cherie DeKemper, and her husband, Joe, of Dubois; two sons, Glenn Schnarr, and his wife Judy, of Celestine and Gary Schnarr, and his wife Carla, Huntingburg; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are a great grandson, Michael Dylan Schitter, one sister, Jewell Canary, and his infant twin brother, Marvin Schnarr.
Funeral services for Morris W. Schnarr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. The V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
