Morris DeKemper, 98, Dubois

Morris DeKemper, 98, Dubois, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
Morris was born in Dubois on September 21, 1918, to Anthony and Emma (Beck) DeKemper. He married June McBride on November 3, 1951, at Our Lady of the Springs in French Lick.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran who served as a B-25 Mitchell crew chief in the South Pacific during World War II. Morris retired from Indiana Cabinet in Dubois. He was founding member of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department and served for 40 years as the assistant chief. He was also a 60-year member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association. He served on the Dubois Water Department board of directors for 40 years. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, IN, where he served as an usher and past member of the church council. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and being outside.
He is survived by his wife, June DeKemper of Dubois; three sons, Terry DeKemper and wife Carol of Celestine, Tom DeKemper and wife Tina of Jasper and Joe DeKemper and wife Cherie of Dubois; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Ralph and Vernon DeKemper
A Mass of Christian Burial for Morris DeKemper will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21,2016, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at St. Raphael Catholic Church on Friday, October 21, 2016.
