Morina C. Schaefer, 93, Ferdinand

Morina C. Schaefer, 93, of Ferdinand, formerly of St. Meinrad, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born May 10, 1924, in Mariah Hill to Frank and Mary (Lemmer) Miller. She was united in marriage to Robert B. Schaefer on April 26, 1943, in Mary Help Of Christians Church, Mariah Hill. Robert preceded her in death on September 7, 2005.

Morina was a member of St. Meinrad Parish and its Ladies Sodality and St. Elizabeth Society. She was also a member of Ferdinand Senior Citizens.

Morina was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and playing cards.

She is survived by one daughter, LaVerne (Randy) Gogel of Mariah Hill; two sons, Dennis (Kathy) Schaefer of Middletown, Ohio, and Kevin (Sheryl) Schaefer of St. Meinrad; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vernita Sitzman- Nies of Mariah Hill.

She was preceded in death also by one son, Wayne Schaefer; one daughter, Erlene Cooper; grandson, Todd Werne; and one twin sister, Adaline Fischer.

Funeral services for Morina Schaefer will be held at 10 a.m. CST Friday, February 9, in St. Meinrad Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. CST Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and after 9 a.m. CST Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Meinrad Cemetery Fund.
