Moped operator injured after striking car
A moped operator was injured Wednesday evening when he sideswiped an oncoming car on Clay Street in Jasper.
Police responded to the crash near 31 Clay Street at about 6:37 p.m. They reported Mark Wright, 42, of Division Road was operating a 2013 Kymco moped when he crossed the centerline and sideswiped an oncoming Toyota Rav4 driven by Joan Hentrup, 79, of Division Road.
Wright sustained injuries to his face, hands, and legs police said. He was taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
The moped was considered a total loss and the Toyota had about $1,500 in estimated damages.
Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, and a Sternberg’s wrecker assisted at the scene.
