Monty H. Buchanan, 60, of Jasper

Monty H. Buchanan, 60, Jasper, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016, at home.

He was born on June 18, 1955, in Lawrenceville, IL to Hugh and Mildred (Montgomery) Buchanan.

Monty was a former police officer in Georgia and previously managed the Bob Evans restaurant in Jasper. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight.

He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #147, where he served as the post chaplin, chairman of the Boys and Girls State Program. He also coordinated the Oratorical Program.

He is survived by one brother, Michael Buchanan of Bloomington; two nephews, Bryce Buchanan and Brock Buchanan.

Preceding him in death was his parents, Hugh and Mildred Buchanan.

A Memorial Mass for Monty H. Buchanan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

There will be no visitation at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Homes, private burial will be at a later date.
