Monica Rose “Rosie” Gutgsell, age 75 of Schnellville, passed away at 12:12 CST, Monday (January 6, 2014) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.

She was born on July 2, 1938 in Schnellville, Indiana to Anthony and Helen (Greenwell) Nordhoff. She married Robert L. Gutgsell on September 27, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2012

Rosie was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville.

She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, flowers, cooking, and spending time with friends, family and her grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

She is survived by daughter, Audrey Lichlyter and her husband Zach of Jasper; Six Sons, Bret Gutgsell and his wife Kristina, of Schnellville and Bernie Gutgsell and his wife Theresa, both of Schnellville, Bruce Gutgsell and his wife Denise, of Celestine, Brad Gutgsell and his wife Melinda, and Blake Gutgsell and his wife Lisa, and Mark Gutgsell, and his wife Tracy, all of Schnellville; 14 Grandchildren -Amanda Hochgesang and Heath Gutgsell, Wesley and Kyle Gutgsell, Lucas and Landon Gutgsell, Grant, Hilary, and Emily Gutgsell, Harrison Gutgsell, Drake and Chase Lichlyter, Mason and Brendon Gutgsell; One great granddaughter – Reagan Hochgesang; Two Sisters, Lillian Fritz of St. Anthony, and Margie Knies of Bretzville.

Preceding her in death beside her husband are three sisters – Lucille Merkel, Mary Lou Kirst, and Helen Merkel; four brothers – Charles Nordhoff, William Nordhoff, Anthony C. Nordhoff Jr. , and J. Robert Nordhoff. Five siblings who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Rosie Gutgsell will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday (January 10, 2014) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, IN, with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schnellville.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (January 9, 2014) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before the service time at church.
