Mitchell Aaron Haas, 21

Mitchell Aaron Haas, 21, of Ferdinand, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born August 8, 1992 in Jasper to Bradley and Karen (Mathies) Haas.

Mitchell is survived by his parents Bradley and Karen of Ferdinand; two sisters, Brittney and fiancé Steve Baer both of St. Louis, MO, and Morganne Haas at home; paternal grandmother, Marilyn Hopster and her husband Don of Huntingburg; maternal grandparents Norbert and Mary Rita Mathies of Ferdinand.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Haas.

Mitchell was a mechanic at Cave Quarries. He was a 2011 graduate of Forest Park High School who went on to Vincennes University to earn a degree in Diesel Technology. Mitchell was a member of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department where he previously participated as a Junior Firefighter for 7 years. He was a 10-year member of 4H shooting sports and a member of FFA. Mitchell participated in wrestling and football while at Forest Park. He enjoyed hunting, hanging out with friends and four-wheeling.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday from 7-9:30 a.m. at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
