Miles C. Goforth, 71

Miles C. Goforth, 71, of St. Meinrad, passed away Tuesday, March 10, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

Miles was born December 14, 1943 to Bill and Nancy (Boyd) Goforth in Somersett, Ky.

Miles married Darleen Ferris in 1968 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death in 1983.

Miles was a retired truck driver and a self-employed landscaper. Miles was U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366. He belonged to the Huntingburg Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Miles enjoyed fishing and helping family and friends.

Miles is survived by his companion, Geneva (Wiley) Goforth of Dale; two sons, William F. Goforth of Indianapolis and Miles S. “Sam” Goforth of St. Meinrad; one daughter, Tammy Hatfield and husband (Jeff) of Huntingburg; two sisters, Sue Taylor of Somersett, Ky., Sybil Dillion of Indianapolis; one brother, George Goforth of Somerset, Ky.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Miles was preceded in death by three brothers; Wayne Goforth and in infancy, Bobby and David Goforth.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. EST at Becher Funeral in Ferdinand. Burial will be at a later date at Goforth Cemetery in Shopville, KY.
