Mildred M. Helmerich, 89, Huntingburg

Mildred M. Helmerich, 89, of Huntingburg, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, in route to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born July 1, 1927, in Holland to Daniel and Lena (Nussmeyer) Schroeder. She was united in marriage to Gerald Helmerich on January 20, 1946, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland.

Mildred retired from Styline after working there for 17 years. She enjoyed spending time with family, quilting, collecting salt and pepper shakers and was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ as well as St. Paul’s Women’s Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Ida Sickbert; husband, Gerald Helmerich, who passed away in 1986; son, Gregory Helmerich; sister, Luella Gray and daughter-in-law, Meredith Helmerich.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna (Duane) Davis of Katy, Texas; three sons, Rick (Ruth) Helmerich of Louisville, Sherrel (Gail) Helmerich of Nashville, Ind. and Philip (Brenda) Helmerich of Huntingburg; brother, Melvin Schroeder of Holland; by 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland with Pastor Debbie Roe officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and also from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday prior to the funeral.
