Mildred C. Vonderheide, 95, Huntingburg

Mildred C. Vonderheide, 95, of Huntingburg, passed away at 6:40 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2017, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

She was born July 7, 1922, in Dubois County to Oscar and Anna (Neuhoff) Messmer.

Mildred managed the American Legion in Huntingburg and was an Aflac Insurance agent for a number of years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Mildred married Vincent R. “Dex” Vonderheide on November 24, 1951, at St. Mary’s Church in Huntingburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died October 19, 2004; and two siblings, Jim Messmer and Mary Jane Van Bever.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Randy (Debbie) Vonderheide of Vincennes and Larry J. (Kathy) Vonderheide of Jasper; one brother, Ray Messmer of Huntingburg; by four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass for Mildred Vonderheide will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg; burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, the day of the funeral.  Memorials can be made to The Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department.
