Mildred Anna Bayer Milbourn, 93, Springs Valley

Mildred Anna Bayer Milbourn, 93, Matriarch of the House of George Albert Bayer and Marguerite Elizabeth Boeglin Bayer, entered this world January 3, 1926, in Siberia, Indiana and passed from this life to her eternal home October 2, 2019, at 2:00 am at Springs Valley Meadows in French Lick, Indiana.

Mildred Anna Bayer Milbourn

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Rev. Wilbur Milbourn.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney Milbourn and Barry Milbourn (and his wife, Jan); her daughter, Velda Qualkenbush, (and her husband, Kern); six grandchildren, Kara (and her husband, Brandon), Landon, Korryn (and her husband, Brenton), Justin (and his wife, Wren), Desiree, and Brandon; and nine great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Norah, Nolan, Karter, Hudson, Baylor, Linkoln, Asher and Ethan.

Mildred was the youngest and last living sibling of 14 brothers and sisters.  Not only was she loved dearly by her immediate family but she was also loved and honored by many of her nieces and nephews who considered her a second mother. Family was the most important thing in the world to Mildred and her unconditional love knew no boundaries.

When Mildred was 19 years old she and her youngest brother, Harold Bayer, moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, to work and explore city life for a while. It was there that God began to speak to her brother about preaching the Gospel. They returned home to their parents who were living in Jasper and Harold began his ministry. As God had planned, Harold would meet Mildred’s future husband, Wilbur, in West Palm Beach, Florida.  Harold invited Wilbur to Indiana to meet his family where he was smitten by the red-haired beauty and the rest is history.

Mildred, Wilbur, Juanita and Harold Bayer began traveling together in Evangelistic Ministry for two years. After the untimely death of her brother, Harold, she and Wilbur continued to travel for many more years until moving permanently to Wilbur’s hometown, St. Joseph, Missouri, where they pioneered the first Apostolic church in that city. Mildred served faithfully and unselfishly along with her husband in the ministry for over 65 years.
