Michaela Rae Wertman, 8, Winslow

Michaela Rae Wertman, 8, of Winslow, went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2026.

Michaela was born on July 13, 2018, in Jasper, Indiana, to Simon and Amanda (Thompson) Wertman.

Michaela had a smile that would light up a room. Her teachers and family said she would always have a smile and was full of joy and energy and was always polite to all those she came in contact with. She enjoyed her baby dolls and Barbies, and you could find her taking care of them and dressing them up. She loved to do arts and crafts and would always have someone on her heart that she would do a special art project for.

Michaela was a third grader at Winslow Elementary School, and she had a great love for her classmates. She was a member of Mount Olive General Baptist Church, a member of Girl Scout Troop # 336, and loved to play softball. She played for many years as part of the Pike County Youth Softball League. Michaela had a loving heart, and it showed in how she lived and treated those around her.

Michaela is preceded in death by her mother, Amanda Wertman; grandparents, Donald and Donna Wertman, Michael Thompson; great-grandfather, Denver Barrett; aunts, Amelia Thompson and Starr Wertman.

Michaela is survived by her father, Simon Wertman; brother, Theodore Wertman; grandmother, Sheila Boger; uncles, Jeremiah Thompson (Kristy) and Nathan Wertman (Kathy); great-grandmother, Georgia Barrett; cousins, Lillian, Magdalen, Nola, Olen, Chloe, Lincoln, Caiden, Adeline, along with many other friends and extended family.
