Michael W. Vogt Sr., 86

Michael W. Vogt Sr., 86, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Thursday (December 18, 2014) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Michael was born on September 16, 1928 in Cincinnati, OH to Michael J. Jr. and Sophia (Jorg) Vogt. He married Shirley Ragland on July 7, 1956 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2012.
Michael graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Chemical Engineering degree, and retired as the Technical Director for Jasper Chemical Coatings after 40 plus years of service. He was an Air Force Veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister, the American Legion Post #147, the Jasper Moose Lodge #1175, and the Lions Club. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, camping, was an avid bridge and rum card player, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan.
He is survived by four sons, Michael Vogt Jr. and his wife, Cindy G., of Jasper, Tim Vogt and his fiancé, Vicky, of Jasper, Mark Vogt and his wife, Cindy A., of Crestwood, Ky., and John Vogt and his wife, Laura, of Danville, Ill.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Louise Smith of Wooster, Ohio and Betty Burns of Cincinnati, Ohio;.
Preceding him in death besides his wife was one daughter, Denise Goodman, and one grandson, Jonathon Underwood.
Funeral services for Michael W. Vogt Sr. will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
