Michael “Mike or Mick” Sickbert, 76, Birdseye,

Michael “Mike or Mick” Sickbert, 76, of Birdseye, passed away on October 26, 2026.

He was born on June 27, 1950, to Edwin and Hazel Doris (Katter) Sickbert. 

Mike married Betty Gaither on April 21, 1973, at Salem United Church of Christ. 

He served in the National Guard and worked at Jasper Wood Products until it closed, then retired from Kimball at the 15th Street plant. 

For him, retirement wasn’t about slowing down; he enjoyed traveling, going to the movies and taking time to bring a little sweetness into everyone else’s life, baking all kinds of treats while his faithful Aussiedoodle, Wally, stayed by his side. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Sickbert; a brother, Tim Sickbert; and a sister, Sherry Betz.

He is survived by his daughter, Makayla Sickbert of Birdseye; a brother, Gary (Vicki) Sickbert of Birdseye; and a sister, Anita (Allen) Mehringer of Jasper.

Visitation for Mike Sickbert will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Nass and Son Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00. Chad Sickbert, his nephew, will conduct the service.
