Michael (Mick) Florian Stenftenagel, 80, Fort Worth, Texas

Michael (Mick) Florian Stenftenagel of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the age of 80.

He was born on April 16, 1944, in Huntingburg, IN. Mick was a superb high school basketball, football and baseball athlete at Jasper High School in Jasper, IN. He graduated from Georgia Tech, earning his degree in Industrial Engineering and excelling in basketball. He also earned his MBA from Golden Gate University.

Mick served our country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Upon retirement, he worked at General Dynamics and later became the Director of Industrial Engineering at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, where he retired for the second time in 2008.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen (Betz); son, Michael and his wife, Tonia; son, David and his wife, Haley; and grandchildren, Hannah, Jordan and Connor. Mick cherished his family with all of his heart.  He is also survived by two sisters, Gerry Giesler of Jasper and Jane (Tom) Eckerle of Westfield, In.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Florian and Agnes, brothers Jim and Ed and sisters Doretha, Betty and Marge.

The family would like to thank The Ridglea Assisted Living Community, Universal Hospice and his loving caretaker, Jessica Cavalier, for the care and compassion they showed Mick.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Worth on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. A private interment will follow at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery.
