Michael L. Oeding, 60

Michael L. Oeding, 60, of Jasper, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at home.

Mike was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on July 12, 1955 to Linus and Marcella (Messmer) Oeding. He married Donna Krodel on January 13, 1979 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mike was the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Jasper since 1977.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Ireland Knights of Columbus, the Jasper Gun Club, the Dubois County Sportsman’s Club, and the Indiana Parks and Recreation Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Oeding of Jasper; one daughter, Katie Hopf and husband Phil of Jasper; one son, Andy Oeding and wife Stephanie of Becker, Minn.; two grandchildren, TJ and Ava Oeding; mother, Sally Oeding of Huntingburg; two sisters, Sherri Lechner and husband Terry of Jasper and Janet Meyer and husband Brian of Jasper.

Preceding him in death was his father, Linus Oeding.

Funeral services for Michael Oeding will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Jasper. The Ireland Knights of Columbus will perform a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Make a Wish Foundation, or the Dubois County Sportsman’s Club.
