Michael J. “Mike” Mehling, 79, of Jasper, passed away surrounded by family at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper.

Mike was born in Ferdinand on October 15, 1946, to Alois and Leona (Braunecker) Mehling.
He married Linda Neukam on October 11, 1969, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, Indiana.
He was a 1964 graduate of St. Ferdinand High School and then served in the United States Army National Guard.
He was an electrician for E&K Electric and then retired from Weyer Electric.
Mike was a member of Trinity United of Christ and the American Legion Post #147.
He enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes, camping, going to the casino and spending time with family and friends and his dog, Libby.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Linda Mehling of Jasper; two sisters, Norma Roos of Dale and Sue (Terry) Weyer of Ferdinand; one brother, Ken Mehling of Ferdinand; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are one son, Chad Mehling; two sisters, Irma Gogel and Bootsie Schwoeppe; and two brothers, Lee and Stan Mehling.
A funeral service for Michael J. “Mike” Mehling will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel on Thursday.
