Michael J. Bauer, 56

Michael J. Bauer, 56, of Dubois, Indiana at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at his residence.

Mike was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 5, 1958 to Otto J. and Gladys M. (Neukam) Bauer.

He was a 1977 graduate of Northeast Dubois High School, where he was president and valedictorian of his class. He was a 1981 graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor of science degree in animal science. He was a lifelong farmer. He loved the outdoors, skiing, hunting, working in his garden and in his orchard, baking, and beer and wine making. He was famous for his cheesecakes and pecan pies.

His great niece and nephews referred to him as “Farmer Uncle Mike.” He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by two sisters, Glenda Foust of Evansville and Donna Bauer of Dana Point, Cali.; two nieces; one nephew; one great niece; two great nephews.

A celebration of life memorial service for Michael J. Bauer will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Crossroads in Dubois, Indiana. Rev. Mary Poston will officiate.

Family and friends are encouraged to bring pictures and stories to share at the service.
