Messmer announces intentions to seek Republican nomination for Jasper mayor

Jasper — Steve Messmer announced he would seek the Republican Party’s nomination for the office of Mayor of Jasper.
Messmer is a lifelong resident of Jasper, graduating from Jasper High School and Lockyear Business College in Evansville.
“Jasper was founded in 1830, incorporated in 1866, re-incorporated in 1915, and guided by the first mayor of Jasper, George P. Wagner,” Messmer said in a press release today. “Over these many years, Jasper has experienced tremendous growth and prosperity due to the vision, planning, and full cooperation of all our city leaders. As mayor, I will continue that long term vision of growth and success, always working close with city employees, officials, and departments, plus seeking input from all citizens.”
Messmer has been involved with Junior Achievement and is a past member of Moose Lodge 1175 and the Jasper Optimists Club. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Legion and attends St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Messmer has led the advertising and marketing efforts of two local corporations — Spencer Industries of Dale and Uebelhor & Sons of Jasper and Vincennes. He has also continued to work in radio, cable television, technology and website development as well as other corporate ventures.
Messmer and his wife, Andrea (Benjamin) live in Jasper, and his 2 sons, Clint and Jake, also reside in Jasper.
The office is up for election in the 2015 election cycle.
