Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center; one year and 3400 surgeries

Jasper — The Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center has completed a successful year serving Dubois County and the surrounding area.

It opened on the first floor of the St. Thomas Medical Center a little over a year ago with the expectation of completing 3000 surgeries in its first year. It surpassed that expectation by 13 percent and will now be adding an additional operating room before the end of 2013.

“The success of this facility can be attributed to the physicians and hospital partnering together to provide first-class outpatient surgery in a convenient, efficient and easily accessible setting” said Kyle Bennett, Chief Operating Officer for Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. “With over 3400 surgeries or procedures, it also confirms this facility was needed in the regional area. We’re excited to continue into the second year of operations at the Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center.”

Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center has three operating suites and two procedure rooms that are utilized for surgeries and procedures that can be performed safely on an outpatient basis. The center is currently planning to open a fourth operating room in December 2013.

The Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center provides orthopaedic, ear, nose, throat, urology and gynecology surgeries and procedures.
