Memorial increases number of days screening site is open
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has developed an Alternative Screening Site, located at 695 West Second Street (entrance on the west side of the building- follow the yellow signs) for those patients who do not require emergency department services, but who have symptoms of fever, cough, and respiratory congestion or shortness of breath.
In addition to the Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. hours, this location will also be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Patients may call 812-996-6330.
Services provided at this site will include the following: testing for influenza A & B, strep throat, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and chest x-rays. At this time, we are unable to provide COVID-19 testing at this site or at the Memorial Hospital Emergency Department unless the patient meets the criteria defined and authorized by the Indiana State Department of Health.
Those requirements are
- Patient requiring hospitalization with fever and lower respiratory symptoms, constituting: Admission to the hospital due to complications of their acute respiratory illness; negative for other sources of infections (including influenza and RVP, if available in <1 day).
- Healthcare workers (inpatient, outpatient, nursing home, and other long-term service facilities) who provide direct patient care to at risk patients: Symptomatic with fever and lower respiratory symptoms and in their role has potential or unknown exposure to at risk patients; Negative for other sources of infections (including influenza and RVP, if available in <1 day)
- Long-term care facility residents or prison/jail residents and staff (who have direct contact with patients or inmates): Symptomatic with fever and respiratory illness and otherwise no known COVID-19 contact; Negative for other respiratory illnesses – influenza (RVP if it can be done timely <1 day)
All testing performed by Indiana State Department of Health is done using their protocol. The Dubois County Health Department and Memorial Hospital are required to follow the Indiana State Department of Health Algorithm guidelines.
