Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service receives public relations award

Jasper – Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s Ambulance Services department was recently recognized with the Ambulance Provider Public Relations Award given by the Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission and the Indiana Fire Chiefs’ Association at the 2012 Indiana Emergency Response Conference.

The Ambulance Provider Public Relations Award was received for the department’s contribution to the improvement of public understanding of the EMS industry, public awareness of the EMS system in the community and injury prevention efforts.

Memorial Hospital’s Ambulance Services staff conduct several educational programs throughout the year involving schools, law enforcement, fire departments and dispatch. They also participate in numerous multi-agency training events and provide on-site medical services at many community and sporting events.

Memorial Hospital’s Ambulance Services provides Advanced Life Support pre-hospital care county-wide on the level of Intermediate EMTs, which are required to hold ACLS and PALS certifications.

The staff includes nine primary instructors, 14 Basic Life Support instructors, two Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructors, two Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructors, seven fire service instructors and three train-the-trainer American Heart Association instructors. Suzan Henke serves as the department director.
