Memorial Day services
Memorial Day Services will be held over the weekend. Everyone is invited to attend these services to honor our veterans.
Saturday
At 10:00, The Dubois County Veterans Council will honor deceased veteran Bob Stemle and hear Staff Sergeant Eric Vonderheide, Company Human Resource Manager with the Indiana National Guard Station at the Jasper National Guard Armory speak. The annual event is held on the west side of the County Courthouse.
Sunday
Ferdinand American Legion Members, Auxiliary, Sons of Legion and Ferdinand VFW will hold Memorial Day services on Sunday, May 29. Members will attend St. Henry Catholic Church mass at 7:30 a.m. Services in the cemetery will be held after the mass. Then services will be held about 10:30 a.m. at the flagpole by the St. Ferdinand Spiritual Life Center following the 9:30 a.m. mass.
St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 will hold services on Sunday, May 29. Members will meet at the post at 6:15 a.m. CDT for coffee and donuts prior to services. Leave Post Home at 6:50 a.m. CDT sharp. 7:10 a.m., Siberia 7:30 a.m., Doolittle Mills 8:00 a.m., St. Croix 9:00 a.m., Fulda 9:20 a.m., St. John’s Lutheran 9:40 a.m., St. John’s Catholic 10:00 a.m., Trinity UCC at Kratzburg 10:25 a.m., St. Meinrad
Monday
St. Anthony American Legion and Auxiliary, Post 493, will attend 7 a.m. mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Monday, May 30. Following mass, a procession will be held to the St. Anthony Cemetery where Memorial Day services will be conducted. Legion members will then hold services as following: 8:30 a.m., Celestine Cemetery 9 a.m., Schnellville Cemetery 9:30 a.m., Mentor Cemetery 10 a.m., Birdseye Cemetery 10:45 a.m., Cox Cemetery 11:15 a.m., Bretzville Cemetery Then to St. Anthony Post Home for lunch.
Huntingburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 will conduct services at 8:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery; 9 a.m. at Fairmont Cemetery; 9:30 a.m. at Mayo Cemetery in Duff; and 10 a.m. at the Dubois County Veterans Memorial on West 14th Street in Huntingburg.
Jasper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673 and American Legion Post 147 will lead ceremonies starting at 9:15 a.m. at Shiloh Cemetery, 9:25 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, 9:45 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township, 10:00 at Portersville Cemetery, 10:15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Haysville, 10:30 at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, 10:45 at St. John Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads, 11:05 at Cuzco Cemetery,11:20 at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Dubois, 11:30 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois and 11:50 at Enlow Cemetery in Jasper.
