Memorial Day

From the Veteran’s Affairs website.

Memorial Day is for those who have fallen.

Thank you for giving us those freedoms, for defending those freedoms, and for recognizing that we are not the only ones “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Thank you for going out and not only defending our country but defending the very ideal that everyone has the right to be free, to have life, and to have the pursuit of happiness.

You gave the ultimate for all of us then, now, and in the future.

This idea of freedom is not owned by us. You, the fallen soldier, whether it was pride in our country, the soldier in the foxhole with you, or love of your neighbor, you fell while defending that idea. You knew that tyrants must be stopped, that freedom is a right, and that it takes an individual to stand up and do the hard thing. So you stood up and you paid the ultimate price.

Your blood has fallen for freedom. Your stand exemplifies dignity and honor. I ask, would it be a harder price to pay if you never took a stand? We, the living, shall never know as we enjoy the fruits of your labor, but if we forget your sacrifice we are truly lost, so we remember today.

Thank you for being the men and women of this great country to take that stand. To have dignity and honor. For defending those you would never know.

Your sacrifice is priceless; your dignity and honor eternal; and we will never forget you.
