Meleties J. Weyer, 93, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 2:04 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Meleties was born on April 12, 1921 in Ireland, Indiana to Ferdie Sr. and Emma (Kippenbrock) Weyer. He married Alberta Rasche on February 19, 1949 in St. Joseph Church in Jasper, IN. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2010.

Meleties retired from Jasper Seating after 40 years of service. He was a Navy veteran who served in the South Pacific on the USS Monadnock Minesweeper during World War II.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, The VFW Post #673, The American Legion Post #147, the Ireland Sportsman’s Club, and a charter member of the Ireland Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling, fishing and spending time in the outdoors.

He is survived by one daughter, Marlene Schroeder and her husband, Mark, of Ireland; one son, Doug Weyer and his wife, Nancy, of Ireland; six grandchildren, Shawna Dawson, Stacy Hubster, Shannon Weyer, Maria Bueltel, Beth Sermersheim, and Kelly Schroeder; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Logan and Kylie Dawson; Laurel, Ella, and Maggie Hubster; Jacob Weyer, and Will Bueltel.

Preceding him in death beside his wife were four brothers, Donald Weyer, Richard Weyer, Robert Weyer, and Ferdie Weyer Jr.

Funeral services for Meleties J. Weyer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, IN.
