Melanie J. Howes, 60, Petersburg

Melanie J. Howes, 60, of Petersburg, passed away in Newburgh on April 23, 2024.

She was born on February 5, 1964, to Franklin and Opal (Rousch) Ridao in Owensboro, Ky.

Melanie graduated from Pike Central High School Class of 1982 and earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana. She worked as a case worker for the Petersburg FSSA office for nearly 30 years and Vocational Rehab in Jasper.

Melanie is survived by her husband, Mickey Howes of Petersburg; daughters, Lindsey (Ricky) Covington of Fishers and Emily (Caden) Howes of Monroe City; grandchildren, Asher, Harlow, and Charlie; brothers, Richard (Cindy) Ridao and David (Sherry) Ridao; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Melanie will take place at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Petersburg, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Pastor Ron Ficklin will officiate, and burial will follow at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Petersburg.
