Medical condition causes single-vehicle crash

Jasper — A medical condition was listed as the cause of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 231 that occurred Friday morning in Jasper.

According to police, an 81-year-old Jasper resident was southbound on U.S. 231 near Hopf Equipment in a 2019 Ford Escape at about 9:30 a.m. when she went off the roadway, struck a light pole, and collided with a lawn mower.

The driver told police she had blacked out.

The Escape and lawn mower were both damaged in the crash.

The driver was taken to the hospital by a family member.
