Mayor Terry Seitz announces new traffic patterns at Jasper “Y”
Jasper — Traffic signals at the Jasper “Y” were changed over the weekend.
Effective this past weekend, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has made adjustments to the signal light at the east end of the Jasper “Y”. This is the intersection where U.S. 231 veers southbound and State Road 56 heads west.
With the new adjustments, green arrows have been installed in the westbound highway 56 lane and the signals have been programmed to permit drivers heading west to proceed while drivers coming eastbound on 56 enter the intersection. The first few days have indicated improved westbound traffic flow.
According to a press release from the City of Jasper, the Jasper Street Department, the City Engineer and the Mayor’s office regularly advise INDOT of local traffic concerns on state thoroughfares.
